London Olympic Games 2012
aMAZEme (LONDON OLYMPIC GAMES 2012)
Walls of up to 4 meters high will be built from 250.000 books to create a Maze of more than 500 square meters.
The construction of the labyrinth and the public's participation will be filmed by 10 video cameras and sent to the “aMAZEme" website, as well as YouTube and various social networks where the user will be able to access its content.
The public will be able to navigate through this hypnotic and surprising “book labyrinth”. Small screens will be installed throughout the labyrinth with various art images and literary quotes. Cameras will film the labyrinth from high above, from the time it's built until the end of the exhibit. We will also have daily performances by some of the authors of Parnassus Project, Athletes, names in literature, theater , television… They will read texts by various authors (sometimes in their original language and with subtitles) inside the labyrinth, creating an intimacy with the artist and adding life to the project via the oral tradition, which gave birth to books and literature.
Created by Marcos Saboya and Gualter Pupo, the aMAZEme “LIVRE” project consists of a series of ideas that mix concepts, languages, techniques and multimedia to create a link between spaces with different identities and audiences.
